John 1:3
All things were made by him; and without him was
not anything made that was made.
John begins his gospel dissertation with astounding statements. In verse 1 he shows that Jesus is the Word, and in verse 2 that He has been with God from the beginning. Now here in verse 3, he declares that ALL things were made by Him.
In Genesis chapter 1 the account of creation is given, and we see ALL that God made. God’s power of creation is unsurpassed in power, glory, and beauty. God is a creator. He is Creator God, Elohim. And in Genesis 1:26 we see the involvement of the Trinity when man was created. “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” By Him.
Everything you see around you was not the result of a huge explosion or big bang of some kind. Things just didn’t evolve. A creator was involved, and it is this same Creator God that John talks about in John 1:3.
And this same creator God is working in your life because you are a child of God. Acts 17:29 declares that we—you and I and all who receive Jesus—are the offspring of God. You were made by Him, in His image and likeness. Don’t ever entertain the thought that you were a mistake or just a blob of tissue. No, Creator God, the triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) agreed in creating the first man and breathed into him life—God’s breathe. He also created you.
Recognize today that it is “By him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:26). By the hand of a loving God and Savior, Jesus, you live and more have your existence. You’ve received the breath of God. God’s life, His power, ALL that He is has been given to you because He lives in you.
Take a deep breath and realize that Jesus lives in you. Take another deep breath and recognize that Jesus has more for your life than you’ve seen yet or even imagined. Breathe in our God’s presence in your life each day. Recognize that it is by Him you live and move and have your being today.
