Ephesians 1:11
“11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will” (NKJV).
Through Jesus we have received an inheritance. “Have” is past tense. It was complete in the past—almost 2000 years ago. How do you receive something before you were even born? It’s like having a relative die and say here is an inheritance to any children born to you in the future. The Will was written for all people. The inheritance is for all people. All you have to do is receive it by faith. It isn’t automatically received by all people. This is not universalism where if Jesus died for all people then all people are saved. God doesn’t save anyone who doesn’t want to be saved. Why anyone would not want to receive His gift is beyond my comprehension, but there are plenty who don’t. It must be received by faith.
Everyone who receives Jesus as their Savior has access to the inheritance. The inheritance includes things we can receive now here on earth and things we will receive in Heaven. This was all according to God’s plans and purposes. The inheritance was given in the will and New Testament. I will be your God, and you will be my people. I will remember your sins no more. You receive all that Jesus accomplished on the cross. Through His death we obtained an inheritance. The person receiving the inheritance has nothing to do but receive it. He can’t specify what’s in it. It’s according to the one who dies. Jesus left us an inheritance. Not only that He arose from the dead and administers the will—the inheritance.
Can anything be better? We just believe and we have marvelous and precious promises. God’s purposes were to restore our liberty lost in the garden through the deception of the devil. Jesus restored all the things lost. He removed our sin problem. He gives us prosperity, healing, deliverance, salvation, freedom from guilt and condemnation, removal of all wrath, and all spiritual blessings to enjoy here now and forever. We have an inheritance. Are you dipping into it? It’s yours.
