Hebrews 7:25 – He Saves and Intercedes

Hebrews 7-25 700x400
Hebrews 7:25
25Wherefore he is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him,
seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.

This verse continues the theme of Jesus not only interceding for the lost but His power to save those who come to God. Because it starts with a wherefore, you need to connect it to what came before. The writer of Hebrews showed in the previous verses the inefficiency of the old covenant (the Law) and explains that a better covenant is through Jesus. What the law could not do, Jesus fulfilled. Because God accepted His sacrifice for mankind, Jesus continues to draw people to His Father.

Maybe you didn’t have a father who was reliable or trustworthy. But your Heavenly Father is trustworthy and faithful. If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus who is full of compassion, merciful, gracious, and full of love. And, Jesus continues to intercede on your behalf continually. The meaning of the word save refers to more than just “fire insurance” or eternal life. It includes but is not limited to healing, wholeness, wholesome, recover/recovery, save/saving. Jesus is able to make whole, complete, restore, recover, and save you and I because of His finished work on the Cross.

When you receive God’s love, your life is changed—transformed. You become a new person, a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old you is gone and now you live in the transformed new you IN Christ. God’s love is so immense that even those in the uttermost parts of the world are eligible for His gift, His salvation. The only requirement is to want it.

We know a missionary in Kenya who has gone to a remote village in the mountains and shared God’s love with the people. They hadn’t even heard there is a God or anything about Jesus and what He’s done for them. But today, through technology advancement in mobile devices, she goes to this remote community with solar-powered audio devices that have the Bible on them so these people can hear the Word of God, know that He loves them, be saved and transformed. Yes, our God is able to save to the uttermost.

Whether you need salvation, healing, or anything else today, Jesus is there with you, ready to touch you because He loves you.
