The Big BANG

big bang pic 2

Genesis 1:3
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Not too long ago I read that a Harvard Astrophysics team found strong evidence of what happened just after the Big Bang 13.8 billion years ago: They say it was in the slightest fraction of a second, the universe –a speck one-billionth the size of a proton—doubled in size 100 times over, a dramatic expansion called inflation; and further call it the “bang” of the Big Bang.(The Boston Globe, Science, A New Look at the Big Bang, Moments Later, by Carolyn Y. Johnson, March 2014).

My explanation of the Big Bang theory is yes, there was a big bang but it was all God’s doing.

Genesis 1 tells us that the world was without form and void. It didn’t look like it does today. There was no light and darkness covered everything. But God moved upon the face of the waters. There wasn’t a distinction at that point (verse 2) of land and water. BUT, verse 3 says that God said. I believe the bang came about when God spoke. He said Light Be, and light was!

Can you imagine the voice of God across the universe speaking those two words? LIGHT BE! No wonder there was a big BANG. Electricity moved within the atmosphere and the universe. Everything—protons, electrons, molecules—everything came together at one time and in one place and LIGHT WAS because God spoke it.

The scientists said that it was in the slightest fraction of a second…maybe a nanosecond or less—and the tiniest part of a proton doubled 100 times in size. I’d say that’s the power of our God speaking into the emptiness, calling forth light, calling forth the Sun and Moon, calling for land and seas, animals, and then His greatest creation made in His image: man.

And what does the Word tell us about man becoming a living being? Genesis 2:7 says God breathed into man the breath of life and he became a living soul. God breathed into man His life, the breath of God His creator. Here was yet another big bang. Man was made in God’s image.
