I was following our daily Bible reading plan when I came across this particular verse, and it caught my attention. It’s in the account of places where Jesus went, what He did, and what He said. One woman who heard Him teaching voiced her heart. She was basically blessing Jesus’ mother because she gave Him birth. He didn’t disagree with her, but He pointed to the origin and truth of all blessings.
It isn’t people you know or what you’ve done that necessarily brings you blessings, although God can work through these avenues. Blessings come from the promises of God’s Word. But Jesus didn’t stop at just telling the woman where blessings originate. He shared a great truth in how to activate the blessings of God in their lives.
How do you activate the blessings of God? When you receive His Word—His promises—and allow them to reside not only in your thoughts but in your heart, you’re putting His truth foremost in your life. Focus on the finished work of Jesus, and you’re well on the way to activating His blessings for you. God is a blessing God, and wants to bless you above and beyond your greatest expectations and needs because He loves you.
When you respond to His love, your faith becomes an action—it’s faith in action—believing His Word, trusting His Word, and receiving all that He has done for you. The Word is practical, and it’s when you put it into action (activated by your faith response) you’ll begin to see greater blessings unfold—God’s goodness, His grace, His unfailing love, and so much more. He wants to bless your socks off. Take time to hear His Word –receive the revelation of His grace and love for you and all that He has provided for you. Then by faith put His promises into action in your life.
Determine today to have a heart to hear His Word and believe it. Let His Word live BIG in you, and you’ll SEE His blessings unfold in greater measure each day.
