Ephesians 2:21 – In Him We Are A Fitly Framed TempleAugust 3, 2014
1 Peter 1:21 21 Who by Him do believe in God that raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
Here’s a question for you: WHERE is your faith centered? Is it in your church? Is it in the teaching your parents gave you? Is it in something or someone else? Where do you center your faith? Some thought-provoking questions to consider today.
The Apostle Peter wants believers to know where their faith and hope should be centered and why. Without knowing why your belief system should be centered in the Lord, your system of believing will fall short because anything else will not satisfy nor be complete.
I trust your basis of believing God is centered in Him, His Word, and His Son, Jesus. That’s the foundation that will take you through the good times in life and the storms of life.
Peter shares with strangers in various areas who followed Jesus. He may not have personally met them, yet he calls them elect—chosen, sanctified unto the obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus (vs. 2). He emphasizes their struggles and manifold temptations (vs. 6), and encourages them to keep on keeping on.
You and I encounter struggles in our daily lives. We can experience various trials. In and through all of these, we are MORE than conquerors though Him. That’s the word for these believers in chapter 1: by Him, through Him. And the Him he is referring to is of course Jesus. That should be the basis of your belief system, where your faith begins: in Jesus. Why? Because of His finished work on the Cross that secured your salvation, brought you into restored relationship with your Heavenly Father, and opened up the storehouse of God’s goodness, His grace and love, provision and healing, and so much more.
If your faith isn’t centered in the finished work of Jesus on the Cross, then you will miss all that God has for you. If it wasn’t for the Cross, you and I would not have hope today. You can anchor your hope in God’s faithfulness because of what Jesus did for you. God’s provision, His love manifested in His goodness to you through His Son, Jesus. It will truly change your life. Don’t settle for anything less.
