Ephesians 3:12
“12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.”
I like this verse. It has several important thoughts that can revolutionize our lives if we can get them into our hearts. Again, this is part of our identity in Jesus. Jesus is the “in whom” in this verse. In verse nine, Paul reminds us that all things were created by Jesus. In verse 11, Jesus is the whole purpose of God. This is the mystery revealed to the Church. Everything God planned from the foundation of the world was summed up in Jesus.
Because of our relationship with Jesus, we have boldness, confidence, and access. Through the faith of Jesus we have boldness. This boldness is not limited to just entering into the throne room of grace (Hebrews 4:16). We do have boldness to come before God because He has removed all condemnation, guilt, judgment. He remembers our sins no more. We can always come into the presence of a Holy God with boldness. But we can also have boldness in our relationship with others. We are not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God to salvation. We have boldness to speak and to live our lives according to His faith and grace. It means we have freedom of speech and unreserved utterance. We have boldness to speak the truth.
We are also confident through the faith of Jesus. We are confident in Jesus and His word. We can stand knowing we will not fail. This is not just having a big ego. This is confidence based on our faith in Jesus. It is because we are fully persuaded of His promises towards us. They are all Yes, and Amen. Our confidence is in the Rock Christ Jesus. It is not in the sinking sand of the world. It is not in government, or education, or the financial system. It is confidence in Jesus. Jesus is the center of our life.
Because of this we have access to God at any time, and we have access to the promises of God. It is Jesus who opens doors and allows us to enter where no one else dare.
