Ephesians 3:9 – Mystery of Jesus Has Been Made Known

Ephesians 3-9 700x400

Ephesians 3:8-9

“8 To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, 9 and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things” (NASB).

Jesus is in the Old Testament hidden, but revealed in the New Testament. The stories of the Old Testament are shadows and types of God’s working His plan of salvation for man through Jesus.

This is the mystery of Jesus. We can see Jesus is every book of the Bible. In fact, the Bible is all about Jesus. Even the stories of the Old Testament are pictures of Jesus.

When Abraham was about to sacrifice his son, Isaac, a ram was found as the substitute. It’s all a picture of Jesus. The fourth man in the fiery furnace was Jesus who will walk with you through every fiery trial. Jesus is the cloud and the fire. He is the bronze serpent on the cross. He is the rock who was struck providing water to the nation.

It’s hard to read a verse in the Old Testament and not see a picture of Jesus. Yet to many He still is hidden. Paul was simply amazed of the grace God had given him to be able to reveal Jesus. It was his delight to bring to light what had been hidden throughout the ages. And this went all the way back to the creation where Jesus created all things.

The more you know about Jesus, the more you can see some of the hidden mystery. The more you know Jesus, the more the Jesus you know will be revealed throughout all of scripture. The creation is a sermon about Jesus.

Even the devil didn’t know what was going on. But now Jesus has changed it all. “So that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 3:10 NASB). The manifold riches of His grace has been revealed. What a joy to know the secrets of the ages. What a joy to know Jesus!
