How’s Your Faith Scale?

Romans 15:13

13Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

I’m sure at some time you watched the television game show, The Price is Right. Have you seen the particular game where contestants try to get the right amount of weights on the scale to win the special prize? We were watching the program not long ago and one contestant had to pick the right amount of weights to put on the scale to win the prize. Unfortunately the contestant didn’t get it right and therefore didn’t win.

Watching the program I wondered how many times we might let our faith scale fall low? It’s not that we don’t have faith really. We have the faith of Christ. Yet too often we really don’t believe we do and then we don’t use it. You don’t have to work up your faith to believe and see things change. Anything you’re doing in your own efforts won’t increase your faith. Faith doesn’t have anything to do with what works you do.

Most of the time our faith becomes lopsided as the picture of the scale shows and that’s because we allow unbelief to enter into our mind, our thinking, and it undermines faith. If you allow too much unbelief to determine and direct your life, it will bankrupt the faith that you do have. So, how do you counter this?

Faith is simply believing what God has said in His Word, what He has promised. It isn’t believing with caveats—requirements in order to believe. You either believe and trust Him or you are in unbelief. There’s no if’s, ands or but about it. FAITH=BELIEVING/TRUSTING God.

When you come to the point of realizing that Jesus has already provided everything you need through His finished work on the Cross, that God’s promises are true and amen to you, that you don’t have to do anything to earn God’s love but to receive it [by faith], you won’t walk in unbelief.

Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, so meditate on His Word, His goodness, love, and provision for you. Trust and believe Him and you will outweigh unbelief.
