John 16:33 – God’s Peace In You

John 16-33 700x400

John 16:33

33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

I think too often as believers we equate tribulation in our life as the absence of peace but I think we miss an important aspect if we only consider that explanation. I want you to see another aspect of John 16:33 today.

Jesus plainly told His disciples (you and I included) that while we’re in this world we’ll have tribulation but not to be despondent, upset, or overcome by it because IN HIM is the peace and overcoming ability to rise above the circumstances and situations.

Jesus says that peace is IN HIM. The Prince of Peace lives within you. Peace is God’s active presence in you. Experiencing God’s peace is not a subtraction of problems. It is more than adding His ability in your life. It is allowing His presence to multiple, to grow, in your heart and mind and affect your world. Strong’s Greek & Hebrew Dictionary explains that peace is from a verb meaning to join.

When you’re joined to Jesus, you’re joined into His peace. This involves residing and resting in the One who lives IN you. It’s a rest of faith—resting in the finished work of Jesus and ALL that He is and has provided for you. It’s believing and trusting the Lord and allowing God’s grace to work effectively in you.

Get a greater picture of God’s PEACE, HIS presence in your life because it includes but is not limited to your entire life, your prosperity (body, soul, and spirit), quietness, REST. The more you focus on God’s provision of grace—peace—the more you will rest in Him and the more you’ll overcome those times of problems and troubles.

YOU have complete PEACE living in you. Tackle the difficulties and troubles in this world from your position as God’s beloved child, a position of rest and peace. It is Jesus enabling you to overcome and walk in victory. You can’t accomplish this on your own, but when you allow the Prince of Peace who is in you to rule your heart, your mind and thoughts, your emotions, you’ll be able to rest and relax in Him. You’ll be confident, knowing that He’s got things under control allowing you to sail through the difficulties with ease and grace.
