Romans 5:1-2
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
“By whom” or “through whom” (Greek word “dia” is normally translated “through”) we have access to grace. This is something rarely given before the Cross. Very few Old Testament characters were given this access and then only limited. This is one of God’s gifts of grace. In fact, gifts and grace are the same word. We now have unlimited access to God’s grave and favor. He isn’t limiting it any longer. He has torn down any wall or partition that prevented access in the past.
God justified or pronounced us righteous by faith. We experience peace now by faith. And we have total access to God’s grace by faith. Faith is something anybody and everybody can have. Faith simply believes. The Old Testament was about obedience. The New Testament is about believing—or as Joseph Prince calls it “right believing.”
“16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). We have audacious access to God’s grace. This means we don’t have to “clean up our act” or make sure we have confessed our sins in order to be worthy to enter God’s presence. Jesus has already taken care of the sin problem. He has made us righteous and holy. We are worthy through Jesus to enter into the throne room.
Of course, we don’t physically enter something. In fact, the throne room is within us. In Luke 17:21 Jesus says, “Behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” The kingdom of God or heaven is where the King dwells. The King has taken up residence within us. So we don’t have to go far to enter His room filled with grace. Heaven has merged with earth. We aren’t separated from heaven any longer. God’s will is God’s plan for us here on earth.
Rejoice that you are free to enter into a wonderful relationship with God through Jesus. And make the stand for grace.
