Renovations Coming

Niagra falls

2 Corinthians 3:18

18And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. (ESV)

Renovations take place not only in our spiritual lives but in our normal, everyday lives as well. Quite a few years ago after my parents went home to Heaven, we decided to down-size. We sold our house and moved into my parents’ house, and in the process started renovating/remodeling the house. We divided the basement into a large separate room that would be our office, a separate storage room, and a roomy garage. Then we finished the basement and added floor-to-ceiling shelves in the storage room. Somewhere down the line we also decided to completely redo the kitchen upstairs and extend it to include the area that had been the deck patio. We made that room addition two-stories and enclosed the room below, accessible through the new office. The house was not the same as it had been. It was transformed.

It’s a similar process you and I go through as we learn and grow as believers. The more we see Jesus in the Word and learn of all that He has done for us, we are changed. You can’t be the same when Jesus transforms your life.

You’ve probably seen bumper stickers saying something about “I’m under reconstruction”. You and I should continually be under reconstruction. Our walk with Jesus should get deeper and deeper. Our inner man should be growing stronger in the revelation of God’s love and grace. We should be changing.

That’s what Paul talks when he says our inner man is being renewed. It’s a continual process, a process of allowing God’s Word to daily transform and renew our thinking. The more you think like God, the more you’ll become like His Son. See yourself as a beloved child of God, forever forgiven, dearly loved, highly favored and approved. The more you think the way Jesus does, the more the glory and power of the Lord will transform you into His image. You’ll look more and more like Jesus and that’s what the world needs to see.

I hope you are ready for the renovation of God’s Word that will totally transform your life from the inside out.
