Stop The Thief

John 10:10

10The thief cometh not but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy

It’s time to stop the thief! Who’s is he? He’s the enemy of your soul, and his main purpose is to steal from you, kill and destroy you. He doesn’t want you walking in the power of the Word, in the blessings that are yours in Christ Jesus. He wants to keep you defeated any way he can.

The Apostle Peter called him only a roaring lion but remember even if he sounds ferocious, he’s a defeated foe. Jesus prevailed over Him at the Cross through His resurrection. There is a way to avoid his tactics, and you already have the tools to defeat him.

The first area of your defense is in not letting the enemy steal the Word when you hear it. Look at his first line of attack—that of your mind. Anytime you hear the Word, whether from a sermon or in reading the Bible, you’re given opportunity to plant the Word in your heart by reading it with your eyes and meditating on the Word. What you’re doing is planting the Word of God. Then as you continue to let the Word grow in your thinking and in your heart, it becomes established more and more in your heart. If the enemy can keep you from thinking about the Word, he can steal it. He wants you to forget what you read, forget the revelation you just received. He’s banking on you forgetting so you won’t act on God’s Word and apply it in your life.

Remember, he’s a thief and wants to take what isn’t his. He knows that if the Word is in you then he’s defeated. He may still try throwing his fiery darts of doubt and unbelief into your mind. Don’t let those thoughts stay Don’t allow thoughts contrary to the promises of God rent space in your mind and thinking.

Go on the counter attack with the Word. Don’t declare what your problem is. Declare what the Word says. Center your thoughts of the Cross and what Jesus has given you as His child. Declare your healing, your deliverance, and provision through His finished work of grace.

Your weapon is your sword, the Word. Use it and you’ll stop the thief.
