2 Peter 1:3
3 According to His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
You’ve been given everything you need to live a victorious Christian life. That’s what Peter declares to those who have faith in Jesus through the righteousness of God. Peter said we already have what we need here on this earth to live a godly life, and it comes through the knowledge of Him—Jesus.
We’ve said it many times this year. It’s all about Jesus. The more you know about Jesus and His finished work on the Cross for you, the more your life will be transformed. That’s what Peter is trying to get across to believers in this verse.
According to God’s power, which is inexhaustible and complete, He’s provided everything, wholly, all things to us that depend on living a God-kind of life. That the life Peter is talking about here: zoe life. Not just existing in this world, but living a full, God-kind of life with purpose, meaning, direction, joy and peace. How do you receive that kind of life?
You first must know Jesus personally and daily grow in your knowledge and understanding of what He has done for you. Become fully acquainted with Jesus, who He is, what He has done, and what He will continue to do in your life.
Paul told the Corinthians believers that it was his desire to know Jesus and Him crucified (1 Corinthians 2:2). The more you know Jesus intimately, personally, the more you understand His love for you and the love of the Father. You can know about Jesus but it’s not the same as knowing Him.
How do you do that? Learn who Jesus is in the Word. Find out that He went about doing good and healing all who were sick (Acts 10:38). Find out that He is your sanctification, your righteousness, your wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30). He is your healer (1 Peter 2:24), your provider (Philippians 4:19). Knowing this Jesus will transform your life here on earth and allow you to enjoy the fullness of His power, love, and grace in your life.
