John 14:13 – In Jesus Name

John 14-13 700x400

John 14:13

13And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father maybe glorified in the Son.

The other day we learned the importance of having authority to use the name of Jesus. He gives you and I cart blanche and it’s the authority and power of the name of Jesus. There are a lot of people in our world who use the name of Jesus as a swear word. They don’t know Jesus personally nor the power of His name. But you do.

Paul explains it this way in Philippians 2:9-10 when he says “Wherefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow…and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” The name of Jesus brings God’s power on the scene immediately. Even to someone at the very end of their life calling out to Jesus. The name of Jesus is powerful; in fact, far more powerful than any other name. The name of poverty is not as powerful as the name of Jesus. Cancer cannot stand before the name of Jesus. Depression must bow to the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus is full of love, grace, overcoming, peace, joy, health, satisfaction and fulfillment.

That’s the name that we can use as John speaks of in the verse above. He recorded what Jesus said, that whoever asks anything in His name, He will perform, fulfill, and execute it so that God is glorified. The name of Jesus is His character, His authority, the power of God. You and I are privileged to have cart blanche to use His name.

If you don’t understand everything that Jesus has already purchased for you, you may only use His name as your Lord and Savior which is good but there’s more. Through the power of His name, all of God’s blessings are secured for you. You don’t have to wait to get to Heaven to enjoy them. He has them ready for you to appropriate, and you receive them in faith by asking in His name.

It’s time to move in more power and authority as a believer so don’t be timid in using His name for your needs or the needs of others.
