John 16:24 – Full of Joy for the Asking
December 26, 20141 Corinthians 6:11 – But You Got It All
December 28, 2014Revelation 1:4
4 John to the seven assemblies (churches) that are in Asia: May grace (God’s unmerited favor) be granted to you and spiritual peace (the peace of Christ’s kingdom) from Him Who is and Who was and Who is to come, and from the seven Spirits [the sevenfold Holy Spirit] before His throne, (AMP)
“From Him Who is and Who was and Who is to come,” is the subject of the whole Bible. Aren’t you amazed at the writing of these first century authors? I am. As a writer when I see such inspiring words placed together to form thoughts for us, I am in awe. Yes, I know God wrote it. Who is a person—Jesus, not a question.
The writer of Hebrews who I believe was Paul writes, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). That is important because as we see Jesus in the Bible written some 2000 years ago, we know He is that same one today for us. And furthermore He will always be the same.
Jesus is. He sits at the right hand of the Father. He is watching over His Word to perform it. He is mediating, reconciling, and healing just as He always has done. He dwells within each believer directing, guiding and shepherding us through each day. Jesus is as close as a heartbeat. He is not waiting in the shadows for us to call on Him. He is never off somewhere else working on a new project somewhere in the universe. He is always there for us.
Jesus was. Jesus was there at the moment of creation. “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:3). You can see Jesus at work in every book of the Old Testament. “According as He has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:” (Ephesians 1:4). Jesus was preparing for His coming.
Jesus will be. Jesus will come again and usher us into a new phase of life. He is forever faith and true. You can look forward to a great future.
