Grace Teaches Us Godliness

Grace teaches us godliness not law. Law does not teach nor does it enable. Grace teaches and enables us to live godly lives. “¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world” (Titus 2:11-12).

Grace frees us to live godly. Behavior and performance are fruits of grace manifesting itself in a believer’s life. To try to receive God’s favor by works is to negate the grace of God that He has already given to us as a gift.

Trying to be holy is the same as trying to obey the law. It is just destined to failure. But allowing the grace of God to enable us to manifest the holiness that we already have through Jesus will result in an outward display of the nature of God within us.

Grace works for us. We don’t have to work grace. We rest in His grace and it shows up flowing out of us accidentally more than if we tried to manufacture something.
