Immerse Yourself and Be FreeJanuary 9, 2015
Standfast in the LibertyJanuary 11, 2015
“It was for freedom that Christ set us free” (Galatians 5:1 NASB). Why did God set us free through the finished work of Jesus? It was for the freedom itself. From Adam until Jesus, mankind was not free. We were all in bondage to the sinful nature which no matter how hard we tried to overcome, we always failed. Paul reminds us that “For by the law is the knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:20). The law therefore binds us to sin.
Through Jesus, God has set us free from it all. The very idea of freedom excites those who are not living in freedom throughout the world. Though we seem to be losing our national freedoms we still have freedom in Christ which no one can take away from us. That is, if we don’t allow it. Religion is always trying to take away our freedom.
God wants us totally free. That’s why He set us free. Freedom is a precious gift that man was initially created with but lost. Jesus won it back for every one of us who believe on His name.
