A New Year of ReleaseJanuary 7, 2015
Immerse Yourself and Be FreeJanuary 9, 2015
“How can you say, ‘You will be made free'” (John 8:33 NKJV)? When Jesus told the religious folks they would be free, they quickly replied how Jesus could say that, as they were never slaves to anyone.
Of course, that wasn’t true. Several enemies took them into captivity throughout their history. We hear the same thing today among Christians. We speak of grace being the unearned, unmerited, undeserved favor of God, which totally emancipates the captives. They say we are free. Yet all sorts of things (doctrines) hold them captive. They are not living by the gift of grace that truly sets them free.
For example, Paul teaches we are under grace not law (Romans 6:14). Yet most Christians still live under the law. The Ten Commandments are more important than John 3:16. No one is free under the law. You are only free under grace. Grace frees us from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).
When Jesus spoke about freedom, it wasn’t conditional. Even the religious folk balked at His teaching on freedom. Jesus taught freedom for every area of your life. Are you free?
