Free From the Sting of Death

We are free from the sting of death. “The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law” (1 Corinthians 15:56) Sin has its strength through the law. The law points out the sin and punishes the sin. Just as when you go over the speed limit (law) and get caught, you get punished for your transgression of the law.

Jesus fulfilled the just requirements of the law. In Christ we have fulfilled the just requirements of the law. With the sin issue removed by the cross, the sting of death has also been removed.

Yes, we still have to die physically unless the Lord returns first, but He has removed the terror of it. Yes, it is still possible to sin and it might lead to undesired consequences, but God is not holding our sins against us. He has freed us from the law of sin and death. He remembers our sins no more.

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). We are no longer under the law but we live in the grace God has given us through Jesus.
