Rehearsing God’s Grace
March 26, 2015Nothing Stops God’s Goodness
March 28, 2015We are free from the devourer God speaks about in the Old Testament. In fact, what He says in Malachi 3 is a prophecy of the finished work of Jesus. “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, says the LORD of hosts” (Malachi 3:11).
Peter reminds us that the devil is still prowling around looking for people who aren’t rooted and established in God’s Word. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8) The devil is still out there trying to deceive even the believer.
“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). The devourer has no power over the children of God unless they allow it. The devourer has been rebuked and now just goes around roaring, trying to intimidate you. Don’t fall for that trick.
