Did you know that JOY is a force that can change your life, your thinking, and your heart? It isn’t happiness that is limited and dependent on what’s happening in your surrounding circumstances. Gladness or joy is a stronger force and power available when you tap into the joy of the Lord.
That’s in part the joy that David is talking about in Psalm 4:7: “You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.” It’s joy unspeakable and full of glory as 1 Peter 1:8 describes. Even though David didn’t understand the totality of joy since Jesus hadn’t come yet, he knew that the gladness and joy he did feel was way beyond anything that made his mind, will, and emotions ‘happy’, even when in experiencing bumper crops and increase of vineyards.
God has put His joy within you. You can access this force and power. He’s already appointed and given it to you. When His joy resides in your heart, it will change your outlook on everything that touches your life. Don’t let anything or anyone steal your joy. The joy of the Lord is your liberating strength every day. Walk in that today.
