Rehearsing God’s Grace

Sometimes in the midst of life’s ‘stuff’, you need to focus and concentrate on God’s goodness in your life. Too many other things vie for your attention and it is very easy to be drawn aside and dwell (meditate) on what’s going on around you and not on the truth of God’s Word operating in your life.

King David shares some great nuggets of truth in Psalm 92:2: “To show forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.” We need to learn and apply these same truths in our lives. He begins the chapter by encouraging us to give thanks unto the Lord [because He is good]. Building on that action and have a thankful heart. In verse 2 he says we need to demonstrate [show forth] His lovingkindness [hesed] in the morning, and His faithfulness every evening.

Did you notice that God’s lovingkindness is to be in operation throughout the day? God’s hesed, His mercy—also translated lovingkindness, kindness, or grace—is to be our password throughout the day.

When things get to be too much, we rehearse God’s lovingkindness, His grace for us. Soon our thinking changes (is renewed), and we’ll see more of His grace and faithfulness actively working in our lives and our situations.
