Freely Given

The New Covenant in God’s grace is overwhelming. It’s truly liberating. It frees you from yourself and your efforts. As Paul Ellis explains, God has already taken all the initiative because He loves us first (1 John 4:19), He forgives us first (Colossians 2:13), and He accepts us first (Romans 15:7).

When you understand that God wants you just as you are and that you don’t need to ‘clean up your act’, it’s easy to respond in loving gratitude for what He has done. It’s not based on anything you do or don’t do. He’s already done it all. He offers it freely to everyone.

Such an invitation to receive truly frees your mind and heart. The automatic response is to receive it with love and thanksgiving. You and I can’t do anything more and certainly our self-efforts don’t even help us qualify. It’s given freely, no strings attached.

This also applies to every gift God has provided through the finished work of His Son. Believe His Word, receive His gift, and then walk in the freedom of His favor, blessings, and so much MORE. It’s yours.
