Salvation is one of the most important concepts in the Bible. Salvation is from the Lord. “Salvation belongs to the LORD” (Psalm 3:8 NKJV).
The model of salvation began in the Old Testament. In the context of Psalm 3, David sees salvation as deliverance. It also means aid, victory, prosperity, health, help, rescue, and welfare.
The Hebrew word for salvation is Yeshua which is the Greek form for Jesus. Yes, salvation belongs to Jesus. Our total deliverance came through the cross. Jesus is our salvation. It is all about Him. He has saved from our sins and the sin nature. Jesus has delivered us from eternal death to eternal life.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12) Yes, He has saved by grace through faith. Salvation can’t be earned, merited, or deserved. Salvation belongs solely to God and through Him we have come to know the Savior. You may have seen that old familiar sign along the highways—Jesus Saves!
