God promises good sleep. If we are having problems sleeping, we need to seek the grace of sleep. “I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me” (Psalm 3:5).
The context of this passage is all the trouble surrounding David. That was certainly plenty to lose sleep over. “LORD, how are they increased that trouble me!” (Psalm 3:1) There were many people trying to kill him. He had people telling him the Lord wasn’t going to help him.
However, David saw it differently. He just placed his trust in the Lord and laid down to peaceful sleep. That’s how we should see God.
We live in a time when the word sustainability is the word of the hour. However, when it truly comes to sustainability, Jesus is the ultimate word. When you lay down to sleep, don’t worry about the troubles that surround you. Rest in Jesus. Take no thought of the problems but look to Jesus, the glory and lifter of your head.
Rest in Jesus and have a good night’s sleep.
