How Strong Are You?

One of the words often used in the Old Testament denoting the grace of God poured out to the sons and daughters of God is the word “blessed.” The Amplified Bible defines blessed as “BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable)”. This is the definition of the blessed man.
The Greek carries the same definition as well. Though we often see the word “happy” tied to circumstances, it is also tied to being blessed. The blessed ones are the happy ones. To me, happy is a happy emotion. I would rather be happy than sad. The blessed are happy.
Look at 1 Timothy 1:11 where it says, “According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God.” Can we say the glorious gospel of the happy God. Most believers don’t see God as happy. They think of Him as stern and serious.
God through the finished work of Jesus has blessed us with all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3). Where do these blessings come from? Where does this happy come from? “Happy, fortunate, prosperous, and to be envied” come from God Himself—the happy God.
