Paul preached the truth of the gospel wherever He went. And the truth of the gospel is the grace of God in truth. It is the gospel of grace.
“…in the word of the truth of the gospel…you heard and knew the grace of God in truth” (Colossians 1:5-6 NKJV).
The truth in the gospel is all about the grace of God. Grace is that unmerited, undeserved, unearned favor of God. It’s the expression of God’s love. God so loved that He sent Jesus. Jesus is the expression of God’s love for man.
This is good news. The gospel Paul preached was good news because our sins are forgiven and God remembers them no more. God wrath toward man’s sin and trespasses was all exhausted on Jesus on the cross. God is not mad at us, nor is He displeased with us. We have been given the gift of righteous through Jesus.
Jesus is the gospel. Grace and truth came through Jesus. The good news is all about the finished work of Jesus on our behalf. Through His death, burial, and resurrection, we are free.
