You are holy, without blame, and free from accusation—if.
“But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel” (Colossians 1:21-23 NIV2011).
Too often Christians see passages like this and think they could lose their salvation if they don’t do everything right. Remember nothing can separate you from God. So when you see passages like this, what does it mean in the light of grace?
You can do nothing of yourself to receive this promise, and can do nothing to lose it. You received it by grace through faith. If you continue walking in faith, you reap the benefits of the promises. If you start to think you need to do something like keep the law, in order to stay holy, then you no longer are operating in grace but works, and you will allow the devil to accuse you. Keep believing the promise of grace held out to you in the Gospel. Don’t get away from it and try to be God. It’s all about Jesus.
