The Peace of Jesus In YouJune 10, 2015
We know little about angels. Only what brief glimpses we see in scripture.
“For You have made him [man] a little lower than the angels, and has crowned him with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:5).
In this Psalm is says God created man a little lower than the angels. The word for angels in the Hebrew is Elohim which is usually translated God but can mean angels. So some Bibles translate it that way. We were definitely created lower than God.
However, Paul quoted this verse in Hebrews 2:7 where it says, “You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor.” Here the word is definitely angels.
Regardless, God created us in His image. “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him” (Genesis 1:26-27).
Man was the crowning glory of God’s creation. God has encircled us about with glory and honor. We have an important place in God’s hierarchy. We are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We are there because of the finished work of Jesus.
