Jesus Said There Was Good News For the Poor
June 27, 2015Rejoice in Your Salvation
June 29, 2015Years back there was a cartoon featuring Pinky and the Brain. Brain’s favorite question to Pinky was always “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Poor Pinky never did have the same thoughts that Brain did.
Maybe it’s a funny correlation for a devotional, but I think this is what David is sharing in Psalm 94:19: “In the multitude of my thoughts within me, Your comforts delight my soul.” I see David surrounded with problems and troubles, and yet in the midst of it all he finds quiet for his soul by thinking God’s thoughts. Instead of asking God if he’s thinking the same thing, I believe David is confessing that he is thinking God thoughts. That is where he finds comfort. God’s Word relaxes his nerves; quiets his soul from the emotional upheaval that surrounds him.
How about you? Is the multitude of your thoughts wearing you down? Are you thinking too much about the ‘what if’s’ of your situation? When you take time to center your thoughts in the Word, you’ll find God’s peace and you’ll be able to rest. Don’t let your thoughts scatter. Bring them under God’s provision of peace and you’ll have peace.
