Seeing With Your Heart

How often do you see people through a filter of something less than love? We tend to filter what we see through our emotions and pre-conceived judgments. Do we really SEE with our heart?

When Jesus ministered to people, He saw the need of a person. He saw their heart. He saw their faith and their willingness for Him to move in their life. He got after His own disciples’ lack of faith and spiritual eye sight. At one point, they’d just seen the miraculous feeding of thousands, yet they still didn’t see as He saw. He asked them “Have you hardened your heart…having eyes you don’t see, and having ears, you don’t hear or remember?” (Mark 8:17-18, my translation).

How would you SEE people differently if you could see with your heart as Jesus does? You may stress that it isn’t our heart that sees but our eyes. Too often we see from our perspective with our emotions and our judgments. We really don’t consider what someone else is experiencing.

It’s time to open the eyes of our heart and see people as Jesus does. When we do we’ll be able to touch their lives with His love.
