Breaking Winter Mentality

winter harshness

Push pass the difficulties and move forward, but sometimes it’s easier said than done, right? Sometimes believers stay much longer in the gloomy cold winter of life when spring is all around them. New life blooms in their midst but they can’t get past where they’ve been, what they’ve been ‘in’; and they can’t see beyond where they are. Have you been there?

Early this spring I saw new growth coming forth on some trees in our yard, and it reminded me of the importance of daily activating God’s Word in our lives to overcome the harshness of life. When you’re anchored in God’s Word (Psalm 1:2), the season of harshness and cold bypasses you. “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in season; his leaf also shall not wither;…” (Psalm 1:3)

You’re the tree planted by the streams of living waters, flourishing in God’s continual presence, love, and grace in your life. When others fall aside, you’re strong, sturdy, and thriving. Push past repeated thought patterns that have kept you captive. Renew your mind in God’s faithfulness, in what Jesus has done for you. Anchor your thoughts and heart in His love and grace, and you’ll break any winter mentality.

Happy Birthday to our daughter, Ange!
