God had a plan for the coming of Jesus before the world was even created. He knew what would happen and had plans for it. Nothing takes God by surprise. He doesn’t have to go to plan B. He has no plan B. There is only plan A.
It appeared that the lineage of Jesus would be through Abel. But Cain killed Abel. That did not thwart the plan of God, although the enemy hoped it would.
“And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed” (Genesis 4:25 NKJV).
God continued His plan through Seth. Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters but none of them were in God’s Plan.
“And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth” (Genesis 5:3 NKJV).
One hundred thirty years went by before the appointed one came. Seth means “appointed.” The enemy never thwarted God’s Plan A. Even though He tried to kill Jesus, Plan A was on track. Plan A is still on track for the second coming of Jesus. And nothing will frustrate God’s plan A for you either.
