The Freedom of His RestJuly 4, 2015
Keep Christ in Christianity may sound funny, but religion has strayed a long ways from Jesus only.
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). It is only in Christ Jesus that there is any hope in this world.
We are hearing too much sevens steps to…, or 5 principles to…, the marriage ladder to a successful marriage, etc.. We hear too many sermons on how we should behave as a Christian. Too much talk about sin when Jesus took it all.
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29).
Our destiny is to be like Jesus. He is in us. He is working out His image in each believer. To become like Jesus is to know Him intimately. Through the Word and through prayer we become more and more like Him. That doesn’t mean we all become alike, but we all begin to look like Him in all the multiplicity of His character traits. To be like Jesus.
