When Scriptures Seem To Contradict

Alamo

There are many scriptures in the Bible that seem to contradict the truth. Here is a scripture from Psalms.

The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates” (Psalm 11:5 NASB). This verse seems to say that God hates the wicked. Look at this verse.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 NKJV). This verse says God loves the world. So which is it?

We need to rightly divide the Word. Everything up to the cross was law and everything after is grace. So we have to divide the Word using a lens of grace when we are looking at applying verses to ourselves. In the Old Testament, God had a people who He needed to get through life so Jesus could come through their lineage. Israel considered their enemies wicked and dangerous and God protected Israel.

God’s plan was to redeem the man He created and loved. It was all to reveal Jesus so He could show His love for us. God calls us to the high road of love.
