Any Goodness We Might Exhibit Comes From God

David often had a good talk with himself as he reminds his “soul” to think on the Lord.

^“O my soul, you have said to the LORD, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You” (Psalm 16:2 NKJV).

We are nothing apart from the Lord. “For in Him we live and move and have our being… For we are also His offspring. (Acts 17:28 NKJV).

Our existence is solely by grace. We would not even have breath apart from Him. Anything we see as good in us is because God dwells in us as born-again believers. We are only as He is if the Spirit dwells in us. We only love because love is in us.

Even Jesus in His humanness said, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God” (Luke 18:19 NKJV). Of course, we know in His divineness, He is perfect. And so are we in Him.

Sometimes we need to remind ourselves when we see ourselves doing good, that our goodness is nothing apart from Him and any goodness we exhibit comes from Him for which we are grateful.
