Seeing Past Your Nose

Lake Nakuru Kenya

We can all face times of difficulty, frustration, and even feeling hurt in the middle of it all, unable to see past our own nose. How do you get beyond that?

A minister friend of ours recently shared that in spite of experiencing ‘one of those weeks’, he was not overwhelmed. He learned the necessity of simply changing his attitude. When he did and put things in perspective, he could step away from the immediate things going on, and take a deep breath of God’s love and grace. His situation and circumstances hadn’t change, but his attitude did. He was renewed and refreshed.

When you find yourself unable to see beyond your own nose (and circumstances) and you’re totally overwhelmed, frustrated, and anxious, it’s time to step away from those things that so easily snag you (Hebrews 12:1). Regroup and renew your thinking of who you are in Jesus Christ. Change those unhealthy thought patterns. See yourself strong in Him, a fighter, a winner, a beloved child of God full of grace. That’s how you’ll be able to see past your nose, walk in greater victory and strength, touching others with His love.
