You’ve heard the saying that you can’t see the forest for the trees? But sometimes it’s the trees that you focus on, right? You see the problems you are facing, the ‘trees’ in your life—the lack of money, the need of a job, resolution in your marriage, harmony with your children. It’s hard to look beyond or past them. It’s a matter of focus, and what you’re looking at.
We live in a world that has problems, and although we can’t totally escape the problems, we can look and focus on Jesus who has a solution to every problem and situation we face. 2 Corinthians 4:18 says that “while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
The temporal means temporary, brief, fleeting; in other words, they’re subject to change. The eternal things, not visible to the human eye, seen with the spirit, received by faith, and are forever. God promises are eternally yours. Where’s your focus today? What are you looking at?
