Empty Deception

Multipcolored flowers

There are all types of captivity, even in our world today. People are captive to their jobs, to becoming more successful than anyone else, and to even their failures. Anything that captivates your total thinking and reasoning and pulls you away from the power of God’s love and His Word will put you in bondage and not set you free.

Colossians 2:8 tells us “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” (NASB)

Many search out deep theological revelations through philosophy or as Paul phrases it, empty deceptions—those things that man has put in place as traditions, and the elementary things that don’t have enough substance.

You are not meant to be a captive. You’ve been set free—liberated by God’s love and grace. What the world offers is nothing short of fluff and bluff because it is not the Word. Don’t be fooled into following after the ‘elementary rudiments’ that the world offers.

Cling to and stay with the Word because it is the power of God unto salvation, wholeness, healing, prosperity, peace, joy, and so much more!
