Just a Thought for September 19
September 19, 2015Just a Thought for September 20
September 20, 2015There are various categories of ‘walkers’—anyone who walks to reach a destination. You and I qualify. There are slow walkers, fast walkers, stumblers, normal walkers as well as toddlers. It’s not the length of the stride we’re talking about today but our spiritual walk in Jesus Christ. Colossians 2:6 says “As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk you in Him.”
How do you walk in Him? I think verse 7 explains it like this (my interpretation)—you’ve been rooted and built up in Him. Your roots go deep with His great love and redemption for you. You continue building your understanding of His great work of Grace in you. Along the way you find, and sometimes to your surprise, that you’re firmly established in and unmovable from the Gospel of His Grace because it is more than sufficient to meet any and all needs you have, and so you keep walking. Then as you continue to walk and grow in the knowledge of His deep love and provisions for you, His finished work, you’re able to abound—that means expand, grow, and flourish—in His grace. You find that He’s enlarged your heart and understanding of His truth which prompts a continual heart and mind attitude of thanksgiving for God’s goodness to you through Jesus.
So, how’s your walk?
