Love Does Not Rejoice When It Sees Injustice

Sunrise over lake

God is not happy with the injustice He sees in the world. God loves the world. It might be hard for us to believe at times, but He loves everyone. That’s why He doesn’t just kill all the people who are unjust to others. Our thinking might be let’s just blow them off the face of the earth. But love doesn’t work that way.

It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail” (1 Corinthians 13:6 AMP).

James and John had the same idea. Just do like Elijah and burn them up with fire from heaven. “54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, Do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did? 55 But He [Jesus] turned, and rebuked them, and said, You know not what manner of spirit you are of” (Luke 9:54-55). That’s a strong rebuke for thinking that way.

Love doesn’t like injustice, but it doesn’t take revenge on people. Love might speak out about it, but God already sent Jesus who died on the cross for all the injustice in the world. If everyone would turn to Jesus, all injustice and unrighteousness would be gone.
