Just a Thought for September 29
September 29, 2015Just a Thought for September 30
September 30, 2015The other day we looked at Paul’s Epistle to the Colossians. There’s one particular phrase I want to delve into more because it is one of the keys to receiving everything that Jesus has provided for you.
Verse 21 says you were enemies in your mind—your imagination and understanding—by wicked works. We understand that the spiritual battlefield is in our mind. If the enemy can get our imagination, our thoughts and understanding confused, he’ll keep us caught up on wicked works which are really just works of the law—trying to justify ourselves by our own righteousness before God. But the enemy is a liar.
You don’t have to struggle any longer when your thoughts bombard your mind declaring that you’re unworthy, a rotten sinner. The more those negative thoughts build in your thinking, the more frustrated and hopeless you’ll find yourself. Don’t allow them to stay in your mind, meditating on them instead of the truth of what God says about you.
Jesus came to set the captive free and that includes your thoughts as well as actions. It’s time to renew your mind and think differently about what God says about you. You’ve been redeemed, justified, reconciled.
