Afflicted But Not Crushed

light in the Storm clouds

Why is it so important to understand the surpassing greatness of God’s power in your life? Because it will enable you to walk through any difficulty you encounter. We’ll take a look at those things that can indeed rattle and disrupt our lives. We’ll also see how we can overcome and be victorious in the midst of anything. The foundation is laid with the greatness of God’s power in us, so let’s see how we facilitate this power.

Again 2 Corinthians 4:8 says “we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing…” I’m sure you can identify some times when you’ve been afflicted—crowded, pressed, troubled. We all face times of affliction but that’s not where we need to stay. Paul says—from his testimony and experience—that although he was afflicted, he wasn’t crushed. It doesn’t matter what tries to press in on you, or what troubles you, or even what attempts to crowd out the Word, you aren’t crushed—closely hemmed in, cramped. Why? It’s because of the surpassing greatness of the God’s power that resides in you (vs. 7).

Recognize and renew your thinking in God’s goodness and faithfulness. Nothing can crush, crowd, or press you down. Believe His Word—that you are an overcomer, and walk in that reality.
