God is not out to get you. He isn’t mad at you. He isn’t even in a bad mood! If you’ve ever thought anything negative about God, it’s probably because you’ve heard untruths about Him causing you to believe a lie. The Word shows us the truth about God and His love for man—you and I.
We see this picture of God’s love in 2 Samuel 9:7 through David with Mephibosheth, the son of his close friend Jonathan and the grandson of Saul. Whatever everyone at that time believed about David was a lie. He only wanted to restore Jonathan’s son, to love and provide for Mephibosheth. When David found Mephibosheth he told him “Do not fear…I will surely show you kindness…and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
From this account you have a snapshot of God’s heart for man—to do you good, not harm; to provide and protect you, for you to continually dine in His presence. Experience a renewed freedom in your relationship with Him recognizing that He IS good and has your interests in mind—continually. You’ll walk in greater joy and liberty when you change your thinking about just how good God is!
