Just a Thought for October 31October 31, 2015
I like several of the translations that begin Psalm 20:1 with “May.” It’s not so much a prayer as a pronouncement of blessing. It’s like a benediction you might hear at the end of a church service. It’s more than just a conditional possibility but to me it is believing these things for a person going through hard times.
“May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high!” (Psalm 20:1 NASB).
I received a note from someone who is at the “end of her rope.” Here is a person who is in the midst of serious trouble. She has prayed and prayed and as she said it , “things are worse.” That’s often how trouble seems to those who are smack dab in the middle of it.
My reply would be that I’m believing that the Lord will hear her in her day of trouble. Where now she is under the dire circumstances, the Lord will set her on high far above all the trouble she is seeing.
If you are going through trouble, I am believing that the Lord is hearing you even now and will soon lift you on high.
