A Thanksgiving Cornerstone

Give thanks cornucopia

Since this is the week of Thanksgiving let’s talk about the importance of being thankful. In the United States we know the historical establishment for Thanksgiving Day as a holiday. Yet, I’m sure many Americans slide over the basic value of their blessings for a larger portion of turkey or ham, and the trimmings not excluding a huge slice of pumpkin pie. There’s MORE to Thanksgiving and being thankful than a day set aside as a holiday.

Psalm 100:4-5 reminds us that whether we’re worshipping at Church or in our own homes, we should “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.”

When the holiday is over—and before it actually starts—thanksgiving should be a cornerstone of your everyday life. An attitude of thanksgiving is never outdated. It fills your heart and house with an atmosphere of joy and expectancy. You really can’t stay grumpy when you’re thankful.

Be thankful and focus on God’s goodness to you, His blessings and love for you. You’ll enjoy this week more with an attitude of thanksgiving.
