Man’s Obedience or God’s Obedience

Williamsburg gathering

Williamsburg gathering

Under the Old Covenant you received blessings if you obeyed the law. It’s a wonder that anyone saw blessing. On the other hand, you could expect curses if you didn’t obey.

Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today… 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God” (Deuteronomy 28:1-2 NKJV).

But the New Covenant is not based on obedience, at least our obedience. God founded it on the obedience of Jesus. If we are “in Christ” we are under the blessing flow. Plus Jesus became a curse for us so we are never under any curse. We are the blessed ones.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3 NKJV).

Old Testament—man’s obedience; New Testament—Jesus’ obedience. Which would you rather have?
