Three important things now abide—faith, hope, and love. Paul so apply puts through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that the greatest of these is love.
“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV).
The word greatest, is from the root word “megas”. We get out word “mega” which is greatest in size. It is mega love. Hope and faith work through love. The Greek word of greatest also means oldest. God’s love existed before the foundation of the world. In fact, love is the basic reason for the world’s existence.
God has demonstrated His love from the very beginning. Look at creation. Look at the love that went into creating all the plants and animals. Look at God’s love for a people and how He took care of them through history.
And most important God so loved the word He gave His Son. Now we are the beloved of God. God our Father loves and cares for us. We are no longer servants, but children of God. The greatest of these is love.
