Where is your trust? People put their trust in all kinds of things. But there is only one sure place to put your trust.
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the LORD our God” (Psalm 20:7 NKJV).
I’m pretty sure you aren’t trusting in chariots. The chariot was a light vehicle, usually on two wheels, drawn by one or more horses, often carrying two standing persons, a driver and a fighter using bow-and-arrow or javelins. The chariot was the supreme military weapon from about 1700 BC to 500 BC. That sounds pretty mild in today’s military advancement environment.
Today we might say some trust in planes, tanks, and missiles and all the electronic guidance systems that go with them. For the soldier on foot, there isn’t much more protection than back in David’s time.
David knew he had to trust in the Lord and not the weapons. This verse is really asking us where we put our trust. We will remember the Name of the Lord—Jesus. You and Jesus are a majority.
